45% increase in 2022 in the number of applications for highly skilled migrant permits, intra-company transfer (ICT) visa and European Blue Cards
In 2022 there was a huge increase compared to 2021 in terms of the number of applications for a permit to work as a highly skilled migrant, intra-corporate transferee (ICT) and European Blue Card (the “Knowledge and Talent” permit category). In 2021 a total of 22,840 applications for the “Knowledge and Talent” category were submitted. In 2022 this number is 33,030. This is an increase of up to 45%. The percentage of approvals has remained the same in 2021 and 2022. In both years, 94% of applications are approved.
Top three nationalities
The top three nationalities for which a permit as a highly skilled migrant, ICT or European Blue Card has been granted in 2022 are:
- India
- Turkey
- Russia
India continues to hold the top spot year after year. Numbers 2 and 3 have been changed. It shows that the geopolitical conditions in the world also play a role. In 2021, the top three nationalities were: India, China and Turkey. And in 2020 these were: India, China and America.
Category “Family and Family”
The number of applications for a residence permit for family reunification has also increased in 2022. In 2022 a total of 45,300 were submitted. In 2021 there were 37,790 applications filed. The percentage of applications approved in 2022 has also increased compared to 2021, namely to 89%. This was 86% in 2021.The top three nationalities from which the family reunification applications come corresponds this year with the top three nationalities in the “Knowledge and Talent” category. Namely India, Turkey and Russia. In 2021 the top three were: India, Turkey and Syria.
