Entrepreneurs: point system adjusted
The point based system for foreigners to qualify for a residence permit to work as an entrepreneur is adjusted per 1 August 2013 to accomodate freelancers and start-ups. With the changed policy rules, points will also be awarded to lower investments and lower yearly turn over. The Secretary of State of Economic Affairs motivated the changed policy rules by saying that because of the high threshold for investments and turnover, freelancers and start-ups have problems to qualify for this type of residence permit. The adjustments are however not significant enough to make a real difference.
