Foreign students are allowed to work 16 hours per week in stead of 10

Foreign non EU students are allowed to work 16 hours per week in stead of 10 hours as of 23 May 2018. The employer still needs to apply for a work permit. Employers of students that are already  in the possession of a work permit are as of 23 May also allowed to work 16 hours.

Another more favorable condition as of 23 May is that a work permit for students can be applied for if a student is registered at the education institution and has a residence sticker in his passport. Under the current conditions only a work permit can be applied for when the students was in the possession of a residence permit card for the purpose of study.

These changes come through because of the implementation of EU Directive 2016/801 which regulates amongst else the conditions for entry of students.
