Revision Employment of Foreigners Act

As of 1 January 2014 the Employment of Foreigners Act will be revised. Work permits will only be issued for a maximum period of 1 year. This was 3 years. The Labour Office also no longer has to assess whether registered job applicants are actually available and suitable for the vacancy. The Labor Office can refer to the registered job seekers to refuse a work permit application. The Ministry of Social Affairs can  also set a quota each year for the maximum amount of work permits that can be issued for a specific sector. Another change is that foreigners who have been a holder for 5 consecutive years of a residence permit for the purpose of work, will no longer face any labour market restriction. Currently this is 3 years.
