The Dutch American Friendship Treaty (DAFT) allows American nationals to establish themselves in the Netherlands under favourable conditions as an entrepreneur. Under the DAFT, American nationals need to establish a company in the Netherlands. This can be a one men business, general partnership (‘vennootschap onder firma’) or limited liability company (‘besloten vennootschap’). Required for the DAFT permit is that a ‘substantial capital’ of EUR 4,500 is invested in the company. Sander Groen wrote an annotation about the condition of ‘substantial capital’ (in Dutch).
