Georgia: EU Visa easier and cheaper
The Council of EU and Georgia concluded a visa facilitation agreement. This agreement will make it easier and cheaper for Georgian citizens to acquire short stay visas for travels to and throughout the EU.
The visa facilitation agreement will enter into force at 1 March 2011.
The visa facilitation agreement will simplify the necessary supporting documents for a short stay visa application for certain categories of persons, e.g. businessmen, students, journalists and close relatives who are visiting Georgian citizens residing in the EU.
A decison upon the visa application must be taken within 10 calendar days.
The handling fee for the visa application is EUR 35 for all Georgian citizens. Furthermore, a total exemption from the visa fee is provided for certain categories of applicants, e.g. close relatives who are visiting Georgian citizens residing in the EU.
The United Kingdom and Ireland are not taking part in the agreement.
