Working Holiday Program for Hong Kong citizens
Hong Kong citizens between the age of 18 to 30 can, as of 1 January 2019, apply for the Working Holiday Program visa (WHP). The program for Hong Kong citizens is in first instance for a period of 2 years. Per annum a maximum number of 100 WHP permits can be issued to Hong Kong citizens. The procedure starts with submittance of the application in person at the Netherlands Consulate General in Hong Kong.
With the WHP program foreigners are ‘incidentally’ allowed to work without a work permit. Incidental means:
- Working a maximum of 12 consecutive weeks for the same employer;
- It is not allowed to spread the number of hours that will be worked over a period longer than 12 weeks;
- After working for the same employer for 12 weeks, it is allowed to work for 12 consecutive weeks for a different employer.
